Course Outline

The cost of Great Expectations Prenatal classes, taught by a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, whether the intensive weekend course or once a week, for 3 or 4 weeks is 12 hours in length and costs $265.,for both you and your birth partner to attend.

Great Expectations also offers a private 6 hour session for $300. This session covers the bare-necessities for labour and delivery. These private session will be taught in your home.

  • Drugs and Pain Rlief
  • Natural aids for pain relief
  • What Women in labour need
  • Relaxation, Rhythm & Ritual DVD and discussion
  • Discussion of Comfort Measures DVD and Practical application
  • Breathing meditation
  • Day 2

  • Preparing for Labour: Support person’s Role
  • Making a Difference DVD
  • Relaxation Techniques discussion and practical application
  • Your birth: desires, intentions, expectations & possible complications
  • Interventions: discuss ways to avoid
  • Roles of hospital staff& what happens at the hospital
  • Postpartum adjustment and recovery 
  • Strategies to survive the postpartum period
  • Depression or baby blues
  • Breastfeeding– a good start
  • Newborn Care
  • Opportunity to ask questions, give feedback,etc.
  • Book your prenatal classes approximately 2 months in advance of your due date
